Sophia Hills is a 493-units condominium situated on Mount Sophia that also incorporates 3 conservation buildings. All 3 conservation buildings were restored as heritage buildings. The original Nan Hwa Girls’ School has been repurposed as a childcare centre / kindergarten. The second one, Trinity Theological Chapel, has been converted into a restaurant. The third one, the Olson Building, which was part of Methodist Girl’s School, is being used as the Clubhouse and Gym for the condominium development.
The Development has been awarded Special Mention in the 2018 URA Architectural Heritage Award.
The development’s design incorporated these 3 heritage jewels from the past in a sensitive and intelligent way that allows the new and old to compliment each other, be it in the overall planning, and the facade material, terricotta cladding, chosen. It creates a unique development that is befitting the heritage context of the site.
